Cloudburst

The crackle
of lightning
in a crowded room

but nobody
hears it

all
turned towards
an empty stage

static
that ripples

with the
blue
hush of winter

but nobody
feels it
though their
nerves tremble
the same

nothing but
chatter in
a sea of

white noise
without substance

nobody knows

Cloudburst
soft and
sudden

ignites nightfall in
fluorescent hail

a storm that
is void of prelude
or preamble

but always
comes
