Orbits

echoes ping
off walls and
atoms

in the air
between orbits
till they raise

such a din
an endless racket
that even the

brightness
of overhead lamps
curls off in shades

in much the way
an orange rind
rest forgotten

by the sink
stark and
poignant

all at once
