Rafters

A poem about unrequited things.

By João Jesus via Pexels

I would have watched you
from the rafters
All day

Spinning light
like candle thread

hanging pearls
from the ceiling

Watching their sheen
gather moth dust
in a pearly glow

turning it to
powder and
airy longings

like all those
little promises and
rain-dusted dreams and
confectionary well wishes
I would have made for you

but you never
looked up
